I survived the Dr. Oz detox!

Dr. Oz 3 day detox reviewThat's right folks, this self-proclaimed carboholic and sweet-tooth queen made it through the Dr. Oz 3-day detox! I ran across it on my Pinterest feed and decided then and there that I was going to try it. Not because I was looking to lose weight, but rather because I just felt...ick.

After over-indulging during the holidays (I gained back 8 pounds, y'all) I needed to jump start my system. I truly felt like I needed to cleanse my body and rid it of all the processed junk I loaded up on.

I've seen those lemon juice, honey and cayenne pepper detox plans. And I have heard of a few others that last 7-10 days. So why the Dr. Oz detox?

It's pretty simple really. I wanted to set a realistic goal. I figured 3 days was do-able, and with nutrient-packed ingredients like spinach, raspberries and almond butter it was much more appealing than a nutrient-starved plan like the honey/lemon/pepper drink. Plus, there is a different shake for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you don't feel like you are forcing down the same thing meal after meal.

Here are answers to some of the questions I got:

Q. Was it hard?
A. Surprisingly, even for a diet drop out like myself, I found this quite easy. Perhaps it was the short timeline, or maybe it was that the drinks were actually tasty. Either way, I found this plan pretty simple.

Q. Was it difficult to find the ingredients?
A. I have slowly been trying to be more conscious about my grocery habits, focusing on purchasing more from the "outer aisles" and less from the "middle aisles" (the process stuff). With that said I've never been one of those holistic naturopaths so I have only ventured down those 2 aisles with the cage-free, animal by-product free, health-nut products as a cut-through from the back of the store to the front. That is until I had to buy the stuff for this detox. I tried to look as natural as possible (pun intended) as I shopped for Coconut Oil and Flax Seed. And, I actually found it quite fun to explore all these health-related products. Did you know my local grocery store has a machine where you can grind your own almond or peanut butter? How cool!

But anyway, I was able to find everything at my regular old local HEB grocery store. If you live in an area where your regular grocer may not be as robust as this, I am sure everything can be purchased at a health food store or "natural" grocery chain like Sprouts or Whole Foods.

Q. How much was it?
A. I'll be honest, it wasn't cheap. I saved my receipt to add up what I purchased for the detox and the grand total was $92.43. I'll break it out for you below so you can see exactly what is needed. By the way, I buy organic for most of my produce...at the very least, the ones on this list. Oh, and I already had a few things like the green tea and the epsom salt...so you'll want to add a few more bucks to this...

  • Kale - {two containers @ 2.97ea} - $5.94
  • Spinach - {1 container} - $3.98
  • Bananas - {3 lbs} - $1.57
  • Raspberries - {three 6oz containers @ 3.98ea} - $11.94
  • Mango - {I purchased a bag of frozen chunks as I thought it would be easier} - $1.95
  • Cucumbers - {3 small} - $1.86
  • Coconut Oil - {Nature's Way, 16oz} - $9.99 on sale!
  • Ground Flax Seed - {16 oz} - $3.49
  • Almond Butter - {16 oz} - $8.47
  • Stevia - {I bought the little packets...you need 1 tsp/day which ended being 9 total packets} - $2.52
  • Coconut Water - {Zico, two liters @ 3.99ea} - $7.98 (only needed 1 liter!)
  • Almond Milk - {Blue Diamond, Unsweetened Vanilla, 1 qt} - $2.00
  • Cayenne Pepper {smallest spice shaker} - $1.99
  • Blueberries - {2 pints @ 3.77ea} - $7.54
  • Limes - {2ct} - $.40
  • Granny Smith apples - {4ct} - $1.77
  • Pineapple chunks - {I bought the pre-cut chunks from the produce dept, 20 oz} - $4.68
  • Lavender Oil - {for the baths} - $6.39
  • Probiotic Water - {I drank this in place of taking a multi-vitamin and probiotic pill} - $4.49
  • Celery - $1.20
GRAND TOTAL = $92.43...Yowzers...

But when you think of it as the cost of all meals and snacks that you'll consume for 3 whole days, it doesn't seem too far fetched. That'd be $30/day or $10/meal.

Q. Were they easy to make?
A. Yes! I splurged a bit and bought a $30 Oster My Blend personal blender which ended up being the perfect complement to this detox. It blended even the large chunks (that I was afraid my ancient blender would not) and did it all in a to-go type container that you simply flip over, unscrew the blender blade and screw on a sipper top. It was worth every penny!

Q. Were you hungry throughout the day?
A. I can honestly say I was not. Like, at all. The shakes were completely satisfying and kept me going until it was time for my next one. I doubted those who said the same when I read reviews online prior to starting. But it was true!

Q. How did they taste?
A. Surprisingly, I liked all of them. The breakfast one was definitely the best. And the lunch a close 2nd even though most of the reviews I read said it was horrible and hard to choke down. I did not find that to be the case. The dinner one was the most...how shall I say it...interesting in flavor. But even so, it was not bad. I was pleasantly surprised.

Q. How did they make you feel?
A. After day 1 I felt great. I had energy, I was still gung-ho. Day 2 was a little more difficult, I'll admit. I so badly wanted to just chew something. So I'd pop a piece of gum and be good. I did cheat a little that afternoon with a nibble of my son's nutri-grain bar (like, the smallest nibble ever), but then I felt extremely guilty and just plain disappointed in myself so it was easy to get back on track. Oh yeah, and I ate some broccoli that night, but it is a green veggie so I let that slide. By day 3, like any test of will-power, I was just ready for it to be over with. However I always woke up looking forward to the breakfast shake so that helped a little. After it was all said and done I seriously felt SO good. My mind seemed clear, my belly pooch seemed flatter and I just felt refreshed.

Q. Did it "clean you out"?
A. Not like I was expecting. If you are wondering if I spent hours on the john throughout the detox, I didn't. And when I did it was due to the fact that I was peeing more than usual. So, I guess that's how the "toxins" were making their way out of my system.

Q. Did you lose weight?
A. That was by far the biggest perk. I lost 5 pounds by the end of day 3! And, I'm happy to say that even going back to a "regular" diet (albeit one on the lighter side), I've kept it off!

Q. What was the biggest challenge?
A. While I expected it to be giving up food in its "regular" form, it was actually the time it took to prep the shakes. As a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids, I was pulled away from the kitchen every now and then. Uninterrupted it would only probably take 5-10 minutes. However sometimes it took me 20-25.

Q. Would you do it again?
A. Absolutely! My goal is to do it once/month. And the best part is that some of the higher priced items like the almond butter, coconut oil and lavender do not have to be purchased again for a while - there is enough left over. In fact, I have incorporated the breakfast and lunch shakes in to my everyday diet, replacing one meal a day since I've been back from Chicago.

So there you have it!
I hope you've found this useful.
For those of you who are thinking of trying it,
I say GO FOR IT! Trust me,
if I can do it, anyone can!
And of course I'd love to hear how it goes for you :)

  1. Just starting day 1... Don't know if you have a Trader Joe's near you, but they sell almond butter and coconut oil for about half the cost that you paid (a good thing to keep in mind if you have to purchase them again!). So far I like the breakfast drink. We will see how lunch goes, since I've read some less than flattering things about that one!

    1. Thebreakfast smoothie was good but lunch was tough... it took everything in me to drink that whole thing!! It made me a little scared of the dinner smoothie.

  2. Thanks for the tip. We don't have a TJs closeby but I have heard talk that my area might be getting one soon! I enjoyed the lunch shake the first time around. But after doing the detox a 2nd time, the dinner one was my favorite after the breakfast shake. Thanks for commenting and good luck to you!

  4. I am on my 3rd day today!!! For me 1st day was the most difficult one, all I could think about was food, than 2nd day I was full of energy. I did not weight myself today, I will do it when it will be all over, but I did on my 2nd day and I was 2 pounds lighter. I am the same way, I am not doing it to loose weight, but would be nice to loose that belly fat, especially that I am going to Mexico in a month :) I am a "green juicer already", so the lunch time juice was for me as every other drink, very pleasant ( I tried worst juices being a juicer). I will do it again, once or twice a year :)

  5. I'm just about to start this and have been reading all the posts. Man, that's a lot of celery in lunch. that's the one i'm dreading the most. Off to prep tonight so it's quick and easy tomorrow! Thanks for the review, very helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Just to clarify, when it says 4 "stalks", it means 4 "ribs" (a stalk = 1 rib from the whole bunch, which as a whole is called a "head"). I had to look it up before hand because there were some other reviews that mentioned being confused about that. Anyway, it makes a big difference when you chop the celery pretty good before blending. Good luck!

  7. What can you substitute the almond milk and almond butter with? I'm allergic to almonds.

    ReplyDelete
  8. One source I found said to use coconut milk instead of almond milk and sunbutter in place of almond butter. Although I am not sure if that changes the effectiveness of the detox. My guess is it won't make that big of a difference. However, please note that I am not a doctor or nutritionist and if you have specific concerns you will want to discuss with a doctor before proceeding. Thanks!

  9. I am on day 1 and I am feeling very hungry and tired. The fatigue is simply from not sleeping well at all last night and the hungy is because well...I'm used to actual eating. I loved the breakfast drink, I like the lunch drink and the dinner drink...well I'm currently choking it down. The cayenne pepper, blah!!! I might have to omit that tomorrow! I'm hoping day 2 goes better in terms of hunger and energy.
Well off to have my epsom salt bath!!

  10. I too am finishing off day 1 and it was a struggle. The time change made for a long crabby day. The breakfast smoothie was tastie. The lunch one was horrible. Took a long time to choke it down. I'm going to make some changes for tomorrow such as less celery more fruit. It was like drinking lettuce. I liked the kick of the dinner and made it my snack as well. I currently have a headache but the weather is funky right now. I'm going to finish this since it was way more than the $16 a day like Oz said. Don't feel any different. Hoping it works

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah I don't feel any different either and I'm surprised. I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow morning and really start seeing/feeling some results. I'm bloated for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm also finishing off day one, am definitely liking the breakfast smoothie and made it my snack, tasty easy going down and quick to make in the blender don't have a juicer so the lunch one I had to chop up as much as I could before putting it in the blender, felt a bit fatigue but it's also due to lack of sleep so hoping will wake up fresh tomorrow, goodluck to everyone!!

  13. Woke up this morning and ready to start day 2! I am the anon above who mentioned that I was feeling bloated. This morning the bloating is gone and I am 2 lbs lighter. I went from 112 to 110 lbs. I am 5,3 with a tiny frame but I carry all my weight in my belly (ugh!) I am drinking my tea now and will take my breakfast and lunch shakes to work. Good luck today ladies!

  14. I started the detox today and feel ok! Question, are you guys exercising while doing this? I usually go to spinning classes on Tuesday nights but did not go tonight because I didn't know how I would feel. Is anyone exercising while doing this? I'm not sure what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I didn't exercise because honestly I had no energy. I am used to eating protein and I just felt very tired and weak on the cleanse.

  16. You can minimize the cost by buying frozen kale instead of fresh, using frozen blueberries, raspberries, pineapple and mango, making your own coconut water by mixing approximately 3/4 cup coconut milk with 2 liters water, make your own almond butter by food processing almonds, and your own almond milk by using 1 heaping TBL of your almond butter and 1 cup water put into a blender. Yes, the fresh produce is probably better, but for someone that has to watch how much they spend this is a good alternative. On a side note: I order my almonds from California Almond through Amazon, not to be confused with just the term "California almonds." By law ALL raw almonds must be pasteurized and there are two main ways to do this. The first uses a toxic gas called PPO which is essentially fuel. The second way is to use steam via water. Check out information on the ones you buy and make an informed decision based on what you feel is best for your family.

  17. Hi everyone who brave this,I am on day two ,day one I guess I was excited to get started now I am just ready for it to end,I still push my self to walk during the day,and go to my yoga class,I love the breakfast and dinner drink but hate the lunch ,that's my biggest problem.

  18. Has anyone stayed on the detox for more than 3 days if so how'd that go and for how long did you do it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I notice that on few reviews ive read. That noone seems to mention the additional afternoon" snack" drink. You get to pick you favorite of the 3 drinks
Could that be why some people are more hungry and unsatiated?

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Deirdre - I only drank an extra shake for a snack a few times. I truly did not feel hungry most of the time so I just skipped the snacks.

Addressing some of the other comments:
    - I have not done the detox for more than 3 days, however I believe that Dr. Oz has a 7-day version as well so you might check that out. It might be formulated differently as far as ingredients so that you are able to do it longer.
    - I love the money saving tips someone shared above. I think I will definitely try buying the frozen kale if it doesn't make things too watery in the shake. I won't buy frozen rasp or blueberries though - I love those fresh and organic (but I do recommend keeping them in the freezer, I just don't like the mess of the frozen bags from the grocery).
    - On the exercising question - I chose to do a short 30 minute strength exercise program at home. I didn't "workout" at the gym or do anything more strenuous than my usual routine. I don't think I would have had enough energy to do much more. The way I thought of it was to take those 3 days easy since you were "resetting" your body.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I had a very similar experience. Ingredients cost me about $90 so not sure how they got it down to $16 a day..maybe stuff was in season. I am 5'8" and when I started was 170 pounds, lost 7 pounds in three days! Better than the Atkins diet which I am a big fan of to drop pounds quickly. Like you I thought I would be spending time on the toilet with diarrhea constantly but that was not the case at all. Did have to pee about every 45 minutes though. It is impossible to feel hungry physically because these smoothies are so filling, but mentally I was hungry which is hard to explain. By day three I could only tolerate two smoothies for the whole day...I simply did not have the desire to drink them or make them! Lot of work to slice and dice everything. Overall I had a positive experience and would recommend it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am on day one and computethis, i can understand your "mentally" hungry statement. I just think i am hungry because i haven't chewed anything all day. I don't know if this is legal, but i think i'm going to eat the celery tomorrow instead of putting it into the drink. I did make my breakfast and dinner drinks for all three days the day before i started to save on time. Just prepare for that with storage containers - i didn't and had to scrounge and get creative. I didn't pre-prepare the lunch drink because i wasn't sure if i was going to leave the celery out or not? Looking forward to some results tomorrow.

  23. I really enjoyed reading your view on the Dr. Oz Detox. Very encouraging as today is my first day trying it. I pre-made my drinks last night for the next 2 days. I'm a working mom and wanted to save time. I have to admit driving to work at 5:30 a.m., I wished I had a cup of coffee instead of the tea hehe. I'll try to check back in after day 2 or 3. RG :)

  24. I am starting day one and I am feeling hungry? Had my breakfast shake and it looked after me for about 3 hours. The lunch one is very thick and I am not really enjoying it but can tolerate it. I am confused about how much celery goes in it as well. Going to try my best to keep it up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm starting today; already drank my tea and am having the breakfast shake as I type this. I bought all my ingredients last night. I went with frozen berries after seeing how much the fresh were...yikes! I love reading about everyones experiences. I'm excited to see how I feel and how much weight I end up losing! It's only 3 days, I can do this!

    ReplyDelete
  26. My husband & I are on day 2 and he is a little cranky; I think it is the lack of coffee. :) I don't drink coffee so not an issue for me. I will leave out the cayenne pepper tonight; we like spicy but it just doesn't seem to go with the fruits and veggies. Lunch was so big & thick yesterday that I only used 3 stalks of celery today and 1/2 a cucumber. Also we put the flax seeds in the coffee grinder to make more of a powder and keep those pesky little seeds out of our teeth! To your health!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm on day 2 - day one the shakes went down pretty easily, I'm having a harder time today. I had the caffine withdrawl headache yesterday, but feel much better today. I also cut the celery down today for lunch (but I think it's the Kale that makes it taste funny). I have quite a bit of weight to lose, so I'm hoping this will be the kick-off I need. Also don't forget to drink a lot of water, I read it on another blog and it helps with the bloatiness. I'll tell you how I make out after day 3. Like someone else said, it's only 3 days!!!!! Stick with it friends!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Question about the breakfast drink . . . I bought whole lemons and the breakfast drink calls for 2 tsp lemon -- did you just do lemon juice, cut the lemons into itty bitty pieces and measure 2 tsp, or something else??? Hope I get a quick answer as I hope to start tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it means to squeeze a lemon peice until you get that tsp though I'm not sure - I had the same question! I just bought everything I need for this cleanse including the multi vitamins and supplements and it cost me 114 dollars .... I feel a bit silly spending 2 weeks worth of food money on a 3 day thing so I really hope this kick starts my weightloss and helps with the bloating.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm starting it today with my parents (I'm 17). Hopefully we can get through it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Started Today. Breakfast was really tastey! Lunch was not so much. But I managed to get it down. I had to take my boyfriend lunch today and man was that not hard not ordering me anything!! I was even noticing the food signs! lol..i guess its just the food withdrawls. Who would have ever thought! Does anyone recommend a time for the shakes..I did 9am, 1pm, and still to be determined about the snack and how late is to late to have dinner one? Well goodluck to everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lunch is actually my favorite, BUT - I have a few tips.
-I use 4 6" ribs of celery which I think is less than a lot of people use.
-Scrape the seeds out of the cucumber
    - DO NOT put the whole lime in the shake. I read somewhere else that people were cutting a lime in half and throwing the whole thing in peel and all. I just squeeze the juice from half of a lime.

I've read that some people melt the coconut oil before adding it.

Living in a big city we're lucky to have tons of produce marts where I was able to buy all the fruits/veg for about $30, the flax seeds (ground) and the coconut oil were the biggest costs. I'm sure that's where they're getting their pricing.

  34. I just started the detox today. So far so good, I am having my coffee withdrawal and of all days all I can think about is food! But I am determined to do all three days. All three shakes are OK, even the one for lunch' my favorite is the breakfast one though. The detox bath was nice too. Its nice to read everyones experiences, very encouraging.

  35. Hey guys this Val started the detox today the 1st shake was not so great I guess I have to get use to it took me a long time to drink it....are we suppose to use a 16oz cup well I did...the comments are really helpfull I just wanna say thank you...idk I was already on a diet before starting so I guess 3days is not bad if you put your mind to it....ps is it ok to eat fruits with it maybe and egg...haven't did the egg I ate the fruits...so wish me luck....

  36. I just completed day one. The shakes were delicious and filling (my favorite was breakfast, 2nd favorite was the dinner shake and third was the lunch shake) so this should be doable for 3 days. Experienced some caffeine withdrawals late afternoon and also also felted bloated and uncomfortable after the lunch shake this afternoon which means it was probably working. But all that went away after having another cup of Green Tea, supplements and the dinner drink. By Friday, I'm looking forward to loosing some pounds, feeling more healthy and energetic.

  37. Thank you so much to all of you for taking the time to share your experiences! I just started the cleanse today. Like most of you breakfast was fine but it took me over two hours to get the lunch one down and I honestly couldn't finish it. Have somewhat of a headache right now and was questioning if I could really do this! All of your comments are encouraging and I am going to keep going!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I loved it!! I completed day three and thought I would try an extra day, or two. I am now on day four. I decided at snack, that I would eat the peanutbutter off a spoon as oppose to tossing it in the drink. That was my only diversion. I also found that I was peeing more than usual, not the other. I am down seven pounds but, also wasn't doing it to lose weight. I was looking for something to clean my system out and jump start a better eating plan. I highly recommend this!

  39. Hello all. I only was able to do breakfast n lunch minus the celery.......so im starting again today. What are your thoughts on using spinach to replace celery? Im just not a fan whatsoever of celery. Any other ideas? Wish me luck...3 days.....should be easy right?

  40. I just finished my lunch drink day 3. I am glad I have made it this far but I think it was kind of tough. I think Day 2 is the worst. I wanted to eat something desperately.
I don't think you can sub a lot of these ingredients because each one has its own purpose in the cleanse. I haven't cheated or subbed anything so far, just one drink left!
I did however add more pineapple to the lunch drink beacuse of the overpowering "green" taste. It's a gagger.
    Good luck!!

  41. Day 2 for me. I LOVE the morning tea and the breakfast drink. I'm having a hard time with the thickness of the lunch drink, so I have to make some of it my snack. I'm not crazy about the dinner drink either. I am noticing that my skin is starting to glow and my stomach is going down, but I'm a bit achey. I walk 2mi in the mornings for my workout. Keeps you full!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just started this today! Question, could I have another cup of hot green tea this afternoon or is that a no-no? The no coffe thing has been tought today!

    ReplyDelete
  43. i'm on day three...i can't wait to CHEW food again. the juices are okay- lunch being my least favorite because it's so thick. my only problem is that i am exhausted!! i sleep 9 hours a night and as soon as my kids are off to school i'm down for a nap! i've lost 4 pounds though...not too horrible to say that i've slept off 4 pounds! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  44. To answer a few questions posted here:
    - My advice about having another cup of hot green tea is this...if that is going to keep you on track to continue and finish the detox, I say go for it! If you were asking about having a coke or mountain dew or something along those lines, I'd say otherwise. But a little bit more of something already called for as part of the plan seems like it wouldn't be a big deal.
    - Same with the spinach instead of celery. If that is a small switch you need to make in order to be successful, then by all means, do it! I'm not 100% sure what that does to the overall effectiveness of the detox, but in the end, more veggies are better than quitting altogether!
    - As far as the lemons/limes go, I have done it multiple ways. The first time around, I squeezed the amount of juice called for from a fresh lime/lemon. The second time around, I actually cut a slice of the lemon/lime and used the pulp, but trimmed the rind. Hope that helps!

  45. I am on Day 1 and was searching the web for some encouragement as all I can think about is food - All of these posts are extremely helpful and motivating!! I'm sticking with the motto from some other posters, it's only 3 DAYS! Thanks for the reviews!

  46. I am currently drinking my first breakfast drink! My total cost for everything was around $60. (I did however already have omega 3 pills & probiotics) I started at Aldi, got what I could there, and then I went to Jewel & Target because I knew Target carried the small Almond Butter packets for only 74 cents each :) This cleanse can be a lot cheaper if you go to different stores and look for deals!

My goal currently is to lose 9 pounds, so if this can jump start my weight loss I will be one happy girl.

I will post back on day 3, good luck everyone!

  47. I just finished the last drink of day 3. The lunch drink on day 1 made me want to quit. I had to change the amounts in the shake. I only did one and half stalks of celery and only the juice of the lime- this worked great!. I still have my last detox bath tonight and will weigh in the morning. 3.7 lbs down so far, hopefully it will be 5 lbs in the morning.

  48. I started my detox today and I have to say the breakfast shake was better than I expected. Its so nice to read everyones experience on here it really helps !!! Although Im scared of how the lunch shake will taste, judging by all your comments lol good luck ladies!! to a better us !! :)

  49. I'm on day 2. I'm a junk food junkie and nothing ever worked when trying to cut it out so thought I would kick-start with this cleanse. Day 1 wasn't bad - I had headaches off and on but they didn't last long. I also felt really tired in the afternoon so had a long nap. I didn't like the lunch smoothie but I think it's because of the texture and the fact that it was so warm so today I'm making it ahead of time and sticking it in the fridge. I definitely feel alot better today and even went for a bike ride this morning! All I can think about is what I'm going to eat when this is all over! I'm craving eggs and chicken for some reason LOL

  50. Hello from Canada! I have wanted to detox for quite some time and so here we go!!!I am at the end of day one! I have to say... I am feeling a little tired today! Shopping in Canada was approx. $120... I had to purchase some products at our Vita Health store, so the costs are always more in a specialty store. The Morning tea is one of my favorite ways to start the day, I really liked the Breakfast drink, the supplements have always been a part of my daily regime, the Lunch drink was awful!!! It took me an hour to choke it down. I just kept telling myself that it was healthy and would benefit me. I felt a little bloated this afternoon, but that has subsided. I chose the breakfast drink for my afternoon snack. I loved, loved, loved the dinner drink! It was a great way to end the day and it has a real kick! I also drank more water than usual, so lots of bathroom breaks. Looking forward to the ultimate detox bath! I have used Epsom salt and lavender oil in the past. It puts me right to sleep- very relaxing for a girl who never sleeps! Looking forward to day 2.

  51. I am currently on day 2! I also don't really feel hungry at all. I actually didn't use the cayenne pepper though because I hate spicyness. I'm kinda at the point where I want real food though!

  55. I just brought everything minus the coconut water ( couldn't find it at the 3 stores I went to) and lavender drops. It all totaled $81.00. Im really excited because I have been feeling blah and bloated lately. Starting first thing in the morning!

  58. I plan on starting this detox tomorrow - I'm using it as a "pre Thanksgiving" cleanse and I figure, if I want, I could do it again after the holidays. Do you think its a good idea to do a "pre holiday cleanse"?

  61. On day 2 of the 3-Day Cleanse. The little chart is very helpful.
I LOVE the lunch shake!!! I know most commenters hated it, but I LOVE it! I'm not a huge fan of the morning shake, it's just ok, and dinner's was TOOO spicy for me. I'm going to try and decrease the cayenne by 1/2. I know it has lots and lots of benefits, so I don't want to eliminate it completely.
I also tweaked the morning "tea". I don't drink green tea, so I put some fresh mint leaves, sliced fresh ginger, and 1/4 of a lemon squeezed into a cup of hot water and let that steep. I love that with our without Splenda. A good option for non-tea drinkers. It is very satisfying to have that hot drink!
I also found the smoothies a little more palatable if they were cold. So mix, then put in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes - yum!
    THANK YOU for sharing!

  62. I also wanted to mention that when I made the lunch smoothie as written, it made enough for two large glasses. That worked great for me, I just used the other half as my snack. Again, I love the lunch smoothie! Here is what I did:
I have a Blendtec blender so it's killer awesome for this type of thing. I added the entire stalks of celery, leaves and all. Just trimmed the ends of the cucumber, but used the whole thing, including the skin. I did just juice my lime, as the rind does leave a bitter aftertaste in my opinion. I might try adding the zest today. I removed the core of the apple, but added everything else. I did remove the skin of the pineapple (I've had smoothies with it still in - and that is yummy, too - but I didn't this time) but kept the core.
Hopefully that helps someone! I was hit with a serious carb craving last night, but other than that, have been pretty satisfied so far. Thanks again!
